


Shakil Mahmud Tabassum is an experienced finance expert who has worked for over twenty years in the international development field, providing financial management for various nonprofit organizations.
He is currently working as a Grants & Finance Manager for the Ethiopian Community Development Council (ECDC), and managing a $25M budget with 84 programs funded by Federal, State & County, with a primary focus on resettling refugees and immigrants through wraparound social services and to promote the education, health, culture, and socio-economic development needs of the refugee community in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.
He also worked as Sr. Finance Specialist for Miyamoto International, and before that served as a Chief Financial Officer for Espinoza Consulting Services LLC, in Colorado. ​He has contributed his expertise to Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Zambia projects. Mr. Tabassum formerly held the position of Chief of Party and managed a project of $36M for Capacity Building Change Management for the Ministry of Agriculture in Afghanistan; he also served as Acting Executive Director for Volunteer for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA) with 18 international awards from USAID and USDA and served as a Chief Financial Officer for VEGA with over $200M budget in the pipeline. He has also served as a Chief Financial Officer for Leadership for Environment and Development (LEAD) in 13 international programs, established a new office of CARE-Zambia as a Controller, and managed a cross-border CARE-Afghanistan office from Pakistan. He holds extensive experience with USAID, USDA, UNHCR, DAI, CIDA, FAO, CARE, and ODA. Mr. Tabassum has worked as an independent strategic consultant, analyzing and improving overall financial operations for many nonprofit institutions. He has an MBA degree from Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York.
